Born in Tel Aviv, Israel 1985, Asaf Yuria began playing the Saxophone at the age of 9,

and was raised on the recordings of John Coltrane and Charlie Parker.

By the time he was in high school, he’d advanced to play alongside some of the finest musicians in the close-knit jazz scene of Tel-Aviv.

In 2007 he moved to New York City, spending nineteen successful years playing in jazz clubs such as Smalls, Mezzrow, Smoke, Iridium, Dizzy's, Birdland - to name a few.

During those years, Yuria also studied at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music.

There, he came under the influence of close mentor Billy Harper, as well as the likes of George Cables, Reggie Workman, Billy Hart and Charles Tolliver.

More recently, Yuria has been a key part of world-renowned bassist Omer Avital’s quintet for the past five years, performing in music festivals around the world.

In 2018, he released his debut album, Papa Wawa, and in 2019 he recorded his second album Exorcisms for the new and exciting label JoJo records.

This album finally saw light in November 2021.

In 2022/23 Asaf has been a faculty member of the famous New School for Jazz and Contemporary music branch in Tel Aviv teaching music theory class, as well as private saxophone lessons and ensemble teacher at the Israeli Conservatory for music in Tel Aviv. 

Returning to New York in 2024 and Record his second album for JoJo records to be released in September of 2026 featuring a collaboration between his teachers and master musicians George Cables, Billy Hart, Omer Avital and special guest appearance by Joe Magnarelli.

These days Asaf is mostly leading his Organ Quartet  which presents his new and old original music in addition to arrangements of classic songs.
